USA dominates Costa Rica
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico, July 4, 2011 - USA dominated Costa Rica
in straight sets 25-20, 25-10 and 25-8 in round robin action of
Pool B at the 10th Women’s Pan American Volleyball
Cup.
The last match of the day in Pool B featured a well coordinated
USA that dominated Costa Rica which dropped to a 0-4 win-loss,
while Americans along with Brazil improved its record to 4-0
win-loss ahead of the great spectacle of tomorrow’s match.
Megan Hodge with only two sets led USA with 14 points, and
Jordan Larson contributed with 13.
“The first set wasn’t as smooth as it should have been, but we
executed well,” said Jennifer Tamas for USA. About tomorrow’s
match with Brazil she said: “We must concentrate on the basics
because the little things will make a difference.”
Karen Cope spoke about Costa Rica: “It was a pretty good first
set as we were battling to keep up with USA.”
Hugh McCutcheon said: “It was good that the athletes had to deal
with adversities during the first set figuring out how to solve
them and catch up with the rhythm of the game.” He is looking
forward to play against Brazil and hope for good outcome.
“Matches with Brazil are always good,” he added.
For Costa Rica, coach Braulio Godinez expressed: “I am glad with
my girls, there is a big difference between both teams so just
making more than 10 points against USA is enough for us.” |
