Mexico beat El Salvador in straight sets
LIMA, Peru, June 17, 2011 – Mexico beat El Salvador in straight
sets (25-13, 25-8, 25-11) for its second victory in Pool A of
the 1st U-20 Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup.
In the shortest match of the first two days (55 minutes) the
Mexicans took good advantage of the 23 errors of their opponents
and their offense was led by Samantha Bricio with 14 points, the
only player with double figures in the match.
For El Salvador, Andrea Manzur had seven.
Requested by the media, Bricio said “these two games have served
for our team-work toward the U-18 World Championship in Turkey.”
Salvadorian Gabriela Soriano said “it is an honor to face teams
of high level and here we get a valuable experience for the
future.”
Cuban Victor Garcia, coach of Mexico, said “we came here to
prepare and compete, but if we win it is much better despite we
have a team of a lower age level. The team of El Salvador is
very new, but that’s the way to start, and it is vital play and
play to reach higher levels.”
His fellow countryman Juan Andres Leon, coach of El Salvador,
said “we explained over there about the importance of a logistic
support if we want to develop volleyball.” |
