& Tobago defeated Mexico
TIJUANA, Mexico, June 18, 2010 – Trinidad & Tobago defeated
Mexico 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-23) in the last match of Day One in
the Women’s Pan American Cup. It was the first victory of the
Trinidadians in four years participating in the event.
Krystle Esdelle and Kelly-Anne Billingy were the best scorers of
the winners with 22 and 16 points respectively. Mexicans Andrea
Rangel and Samantha Bricio led the defeated side with 16 and 15
points.
“The girls are satisfied with their first victory and our main
goal during all these years has been to play up to the level of
Mexico and Costa Rica,” Trinidadian coach Francisco Cruz said.
“My athletes have done a great effort.”
“We had some difficulties with our reception but overall I am
satisfied because we are using this tournament as preparation
for the NORCECA Junior Continental Tournament,” Mexican Coach
Jose Bernal said.
