Venezuela claims first win defeating El Salvador
LIMA, Peru, June 18, 2011 - 18 de junio, 2011 - Venezuela
claimed its first win at the 1st U-20 Women’s Volleyball Pan
American Cup defeating El Salvador in straight sets 25-11, 25-19
y 25-13 and secure third place in Pool A.
Elianni Gómez and Sharlin Bidean led the winners with 13 and 10
points respectively. María José Galeano had six in the losing
cause.
Yonathan Rojas, coach of Venezuela, said: “Thanks to the
technical and tactical work, and we recognize the two teams are
different. If we face Cuba tomorrow in the quarterfinals it is
going to be an interesting and tough match but we will play with
enthusiasm.”
Cuban Juan Andres Leon, coach of the Central Americans, said
that “my pupils have won confidence, we designed one strategy
and they had good moments considering their non existent
international experience and even more in an event like this one
of invaluable level.” |
