Kamila Morales Named MVP of the AFECAVOL

U17 Central American Championship

 

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras, July 4, 2026. – Guatemala’s Kamila Morales was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the II AFECAVOL Girls’ U17 Central American Volleyball Championship after leading her country to its first-ever title in the category.

 

Morales was one of the tournament’s most consistent performers. She scored 25 points against Belize during the pool phase and added 16 more in the thrilling championship match against Honduras, finishing the tournament with a total of 52 points.

 

Belize’s Jamielee Espejo earned the Best Scorer award after setting a new tournament record with 105 points, surpassing the previous mark of 67, jointly held by fellow Belizeans Akili Jones and Emaun Marín. Espejo also received the Second Best Spiker and Best Receiver awards.

 

The Best Spiker honor went to Honduras’ Luna Janania, who finished as the tournament’s second-leading scorer with 71 points. Honduras also claimed three additional individual awards, with Mía Becker named Best Blocker, Paulina Becker recognized as Best Opposite, and Soraya Ghadesi selected as Best Setter.

 

Costa Rica collected four individual awards. Diana Espinoza was named Second Best Blocker, Jimena Rodríguez received the Best Server award, and Brianna González earned double honors as Best Digger and Best Libero.

Kamila Morales, Guatemala’s Most Valuable Player, said: “I’m very proud that we were able to win this championship. It was a very hard-fought match for me, my teammates, our coaches, and everyone supporting us from the bench. I believe we deserved this because we’ve spent a long time training and preparing ourselves physically and mentally for this moment. Many people think reaching a final is easy, but they’re not here on the court to see everything we’ve gone through and worked for to achieve it.”
