Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro unstoppable
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 5, 2017. – The Olympic duo of Karen
Cope and Natalia Alfaro of Costa Rica continue unstoppable at
the women’s Beach Volleyball tournament of the eleventh Central
American Games Managua 2017 at Salvador Allende sand court in
Paseo Xolotlan.
Karen and Natalia managed their fourth consecutive win after
prevailing over hosts Swan Mendoza and Lolette Rodriguez 2-0
(21-10, 21-19). The Costa Rican duo lived up to the expectations
as top seed team in the competition and moving ahead with little
complications.
Kathya Vasquez and Maria Fernanda Vargas of El Salvador
continued with good pace while beating Guatemala’s Paola
Alvarado and Estephany Bethancourt 2-0 (21-9, 24-22) in their
only match of the day. Alvarado and Bethancourt had defeated
earlier Stiphany Lezcano and Keysi Caballero of Panama 2-0
(21-2, 21-5).
Kathya Vásquez said “our results have been very satisfying,
specially having won to Nicaragua, it was really exciting and I
believe it’s due to the fact that we know one another pretty
well. Today in the second set against Guatemala we fell into
their rhythm instead of focusing on our actions to control the
actions”.
Jarisa Hynds and Christianne Etches of Honduras earned their
first victory of the tournament after prevailing over Stiphany
Lezcano and Keysi Caballero of Panama 2-0 (21-18, 21-8).
The preliminary round resumes on Wednesday with the top two
ranked teams moving into the semifinals of the event. The first
match in the women’s division features Vasquez/Vargas of El
Salvador against Hynds/Etches of Honduras at 2:00 pm (local
time).
