LAUSANNE, Switzerland, February 11, 2022 - The
Volleyball Council today discussed various
upcoming volleyball events at its meeting which
was held in a hybrid format with the Commission
President, Secretary and Continental
Confederation Presidents joining from the FIVB
Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, First
Executive Vice President of FIVB was present at
the meeting.
A number of important topics was discussed
during the meeting, including upcoming events,
the World Rankings and the Volleyball Calendar
2022-2024. The event organisers of the 2022 FIVB
Volleyball World Championships also presented
their reports on preparations for these
prestigious events.
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° encouraged the
Commission to continue working with an open mind
while looking for opportunities to innovate the
sport and bring more exciting experiences to
fans all over the world. 2022 is a very
important year for volleyball with two
Volleyball World Championships – the men’s in
Russia and women’s in the Netherlands and Poland
– and the sport’s flagship annual event, the
Volleyball Nations League, which will this year
be held in a new format.
Speaking at the meeting, the FIVB President
said:
“As always, we need to keep the level of our
events very high. We need to think outside the
box and always look for new ways to modernise
our sport and make it more innovative and
attractive for fans. We need to support the
changes and tests that are being done in the
sport. We should always plan ahead and continue
working on improving the official volleyball
calendar and the elite competitions. So I count
on the members of the Commission, with your
experience and expertise, to support us on this
while ensuring the consistency and quality of
our events. I would also like to thank the
Presidents of the Continental Confederations for
their participation and contribution to the
meeting.”
Today’s meeting concludes the series of meetings
of the 12 FIVB Commissions and Councils which
cover all aspects of the sport. |
