Khaya Gordon key in Belize triumph
BELIZE CITY, Belize, July 20, 2023.
With 19 points, Khaya Gordon was the key in Belize victory 3-0
(25-17/25-19/25-14) over Nicaragua con day five at the XIV AFECAVOL U19
Women’s Central American Championship.
Gordon’s 19 points on 18 kills and one ace, served her to be the leading
scorer of the game, followed by teammante Nissan Martinez wit 12 points
on 9 kills and three serves.
Brisa Pérez of Nicaragua scored 11 points on eight kills, one block and
two serves, opposite Cecilia Torrez scored 9 points all on kills.
Belize dominated Nicaragua 30-29 in attacks, 10-5 in blocks and 4-3 in
serves. They scored 22 points on opponent errors against 13.
Belize will face Guatemala on Friday July 21 at 7:30pm and Nicaragua
will meet Honduras at 5:00pm.
