Beach Festival praised as fantastic experience
SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 16, 2014 – The two-day Kids
Beach Volleyball Festival of Santo Domingo concluded on Tuesday
with the organizers pondering it as a wonderful experience.
More than
100 boys and girls from public schools of the Dominican Republic
capital, aged between 11-15 years-old, took part in the event
which included basics of physical training, beach volleyball for
youngsters and a few matches between those kids who showed
better talents for the game.
“It was a
fantastic two-day experience and everyone, from instructors to
all participants, really enjoyed those two days of magic,”
Danilo Mesa, Director of the Physical Education National
Institute said at the closing ceremony. “It is something we need
to repeat in other provinces of our country.”
The Kids
Beach Volleyball Festival was organized by the Dominican
Republic Volleyball Federation in collaboration with the NORCECA/FIVB
Regional Development Center, the NORCECA Confederation and the
Physical Education Institute.
“Sports
are considered part of education in our school system but we
need to emphasize on these kinds of events to attract the
attention of our boys and girls,” Mesa added.
Cuban
instructor Osvaldo Abreu, who was the supervisor of the event
with the assistance of Hector Romero and Yeuddys Perez, gave
credit to the organizers and praised the school teachers who
guided their pupils during the activity.
“It was a
beautiful experience and I feel very proud as the instructor
selected for the inaugural event,” Abreu said.
The
primary and secondary public schools that took part in the
festival were: Ramón Emilio Jimenez, Fabio Mota, San Vicente de
Paul, Colombina Canario, Varias Luces, Orlando Martinez and
Domingo Moreno Jimenez |
