RIMINI, Italy, June 14, 2021 – Korea edged
Canada in a five-set battle at the FIVB Women’s
Volleyball Nations League on Monday. Both teams
have 3-9 win-loss records after four rounds of
play in the 16-team competition.
The Koreans won 15-25, 25-18, 27-29, 25-20,
21-19.
Both teams committed 26 errors and the winners
held a 73-65 margin in attacks. Canada led in
blocks 11-7 and serves 9-7.
Jeongah Park and Kim Yeon Koung recorded 24 and
23 points, respectively, as the best Korean
scorers. Jeong Jiyun and Yanh Hyo Jin added 15
and 12.
Kiera Van Ryk led Canada with 24 points,
followed by Andrea Mitrovic added 19. Two other
Canadians –Hillary Howe and Emily Maglio-
finished with 18 and 12.
For the Canadian team it was their third loss in
five sets, having lost previously to Poland and
Turkey. They also defeated China needing a
tie-breaker. |
