Kyle Friend and Timothy Brewster with strong start at Hato Mayor

HATO MAYOR, Dominican Republic, November 4, 2022.- The American tandem of Kyle Friend and Timothy Brewster had a strong start at the beach volleyball tournament of Hato Mayor, aiming for their third consecutive gold at the 2022 NORCECA Tour.

Friend and Brewster had no difficulties defeating their two opponents in pool B; first against José Miguel Tapia and Jason Omar Quintero 2-0 (21-13,21-12) and then against Liam Kopp/Arran Chambers of Canada 2-0 (21-17, 21-9).

In pool A, Dominicans Oscar Martínez and Hayerling De Jesús beat Morales Monsalve/Tubben of Bonaire 2-0 (22-20, 21-9) and Jesario Ebanks and Case Santamaria of Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-7, 21-12).

Both Mexican duos, Gabriel Cruz/Isaías Aguirre in pool C and Jorge Barajas/Ricardo Galindo in pool D, also advanced to the next round.

Cruz/Aguirre defeated Brice/Bosqui of Martinica 2-0 (21-13, 21-14) and then battled strong in the second set to beat Urrutia/Plummer of United States 2-0 (21-18, 27-25).

Barajas/Galindo managed a 2-0 (21-10, 21-14) win over Mark Blake/Owayne Lawrence of Jamaica and recovered from falling in the first set to Nicaraguans Ruben Mora and Dany López 2-1 (21-18, 12-21, 16-14).

The second day of competition at Hato Mayor NORCECA Tour starts at 8:00 am on Saturday.
