Lima 2019 Pan Am Games is ready for Women’s Volleyball
LIMA, Peru, August 5, 2019. – After a successful Men’s
Volleyball tournament that concluded with Argentina´s second
consecutive title, the XVIII Lima 2019 Pan American Games are
ready for the Women’s Volleyball tournament to start next
Wednesday at the Multipurpose Complex Callao.
The program begins with the preliminary inspections on Tuesday,
on the eve of the event, followed by the general technical
meeting. Brazil and Dominican Republic have confirmed to compete
with their number one teams that two days challenged at the FIVB
Olympic qualification event with the South Americans winning the
Olympic berth.
Defending champion United States looks to win their second gold
medal and second in the history of the event, with Brazil
seeking to win their fifth Pan Am Games title while reaching
their third consecutive gold medal match and Dominican Republic
trying to put an end to a sixteen year drought of not advancing
to the title match.
The competition starts with the three day pool-play preliminary
round where the top two ranked teams advance into Saturday’s
semifinals and the medal matches are scheduled on Sunday.
