Americans Katie Lindstrom/Teegan Van Gunst took
the gold medal of the V Stop of the NORCECA
Beach Volleyball Tour beating Canadian duo
Amanda Harnett and Marie-Alex Bélanger
2-1 (22-20, 20-22, 15-12).
Under difficult weather, with rain and bursts of
wind due to Hurricane Julio, the womens title
match was challenging, with extraordinary
defense.
Lindstrom/Van Gunst pushed ahead with serves and
held an advantage in the third set, allowing
them to close the game.
This is Harnett/Bélanger second medal after
winning the bronze at the fourth stop in Punta
Cana, Dominican Republic.
In the match for third place, Mexicans Abril
Flores/Esperanza Albarrán, came on top with
double 21-16 over Canadians Devin Corah/Adriel
Goodman.
Mexico finished fourth in the past stage with
Atenas Gutierrez and Maria Celeste Ibarra, and
now with Flores/Albarran they reached the
podium. |
