Little room for error in ECVA World Cup Qualifiers Group B Women

St. JOHNS, Antigua, September, 9, 2016 - On the eve of the ECVA World Cup Qualifier group B Women, the phrase no room for error was the common thread among the coaches of the female teams.

This was due to the fact that they realized that it was a three team competition and only one team will be going through to the next round.

First timer in the coaching business is Cluevvan Cumberbatch of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. “We came here with the intention to win and that’s exactly what we will do. As a former national senior male player   I think I have passed on a lot to my charges and they have responded well over a period where were worked very hard after a late start. If one team going to emerge from this group then it has got to be us” he said

Raphael Brathwaite has been coaching Grenada for a quite a while. “We have had some setbacks in our preparation period with one of our key players taking sick just before coming here. However I am not one for excuses so you can guarantee that we will be bring it our best game with the team that we have. Judging from the Windward Islands School competition we have been getting the better of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and these are some of the same girls who have now matured into the senior team.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Harris Lewis had this to say. “We are fully aware that every team is coming here with the intention to win and we are no different. We have the view that we have a team that can reach very far hence winning the group and moving on. We have not seen much of the opposition in the recent past but we are confident that once the opponents bring their best game to the court we will be able to match it and surpass it. There are only three teams and so we have to start at the top of our game from the first whistle and carry on from there,” he indicated.

Antigua and Barbuda will face Grenada in the opening encounter of the group B game.
