to capture the men’s gold medal at FIVB Puerto Vallarta Open.
In an all-Germany match, winning the men’s bronze medal was
Germany’s 20th-seeded Bennet Poniewaz/David Poniewaz who came
from behind to power past Germany’s 10th-seeded Markus
Bockermann/Lars Fluggen 16-21, 21-18, 15-12 in a crowd-pleasing
66 minutes.
In the women’s segment, Germany’s top-seeded Laura Ludwig/Kira
Walkenhorst defeated Brazil’s 12th-seeded Eduarda Lisboa/Elize
Maia21-18, 21-16 in a 40-minute gold medal match.
Capturing the bronze medal was Italy’s fourth-seeded Marta
Menegatti/Viktoria Orsi Toth who won a hard fought battle over
Netherlands’ 10th-seeded Sophie van Gestel/Jantine van der Vlist
