Man Bok Park passed away in Peru
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 27, 2019 – Man
Bok Park, the legendary Koren coach who led the national
women’s team of Peru to a silver medal in the 1988 Olympic
Games in Seoul, passed away on Thursday.
Park, 83, died while in an Intensive Care Unit of a local
medical center in Lima, Perú his adopted country where he
was a revered personality.
He was appointed as coach of the Peruvian National Team in
1974 and as technical director took the female teams to
privilege positions in the world of volleyball.
The achievements include the second place in the junior
world championship in 1981, the silver medal at the world
championship in 1982 and the silver at the Seoul Olympics
where Peru lost to the Soviet Union in the final match.
“Man Bok Park was one of the most renowned coaches in
volleyball and he never lost his passion for the game,” said
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA. “He left his
mark in Peru where he reached the category of an icon. Our
condolences to Peruvian volleyball and his family.”
