Managua 2017, unprecedented event
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December, 14 2017. - The eleventh edition of
the Central American Games Managua 2017 is an unprecedented
event in the history of the Games in the Central American
region.
FIVB First Vice President and President of the NORCECA
Volleyball Confederation, along with the President of the
Nicaraguan Volleyball Federation Bertha Cuadra, International
Technical Director of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball MC. Ariel
Sainz and Mr. Willi Kaltschmitt member of the Executive
Committee of the International Olympic Committee, took a tour
around the sport facilities set for the 2017 Managua Games.
During his visit, Cristobal Marte praised the organization of
the XI Central American Games in Managua as a milestone for
Volleyball and Beach Volleyball for Central America.
"I can say with all certainty, that in the history of the
Central American Games since 1990, these are the best Central
American Games by far for several matters; from the whole
organization, the special attentions to all the technical
delegates, the availability to work and to solve any problem,
excellent transportation system, extraordinary hotel
accommodation and if that wasn’t enough, the magnificent sport
infrastructure at the highest international standards” said
Marte Hoffiz.
The Salvador Allende beach arena at Paseo Xolotlán, with a
capacity of more than 2000 spectators that hosted the Beach
Volleyball competition a few days ago, is venue with all the
features needed at any FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, as well
as the one used during the 2015 Toronto Pan-American Games. This
is a site which management will be under the care of the
Nicaraguan Volleyball Federation for future Norceca Beach
Volleyball Tour events.
Marte Hoffiz underlined "the spectacular facilities at Paseo
Xolotlán are above the level of Central American and Caribbean
Games; and I am pleased to know that it is a permanent setting
for Beach Volleyball training and events that will not only
benefit Nicaragua and the Central American area, but the entire
American continent.”
The Indoor Volleyball competition is being held at the Alexis
Argüello Sports Complex, a facility that holds 8500 spectators,
is a world-class infrastructure, with all the conditions to host
intercontinental and world Volleyball championships.
“I was surprised by to the Alexis Argüello sports center; I was
struck by the fast construction efforts and how it is fully
conditioned from 61 days ago, during the last inspection visit”
said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz.
The Alexis Argüello is an extraordinary center that remains as a
legacy for all sports; the efforts of Managua´s City Hall
authorities with the support of the Government of Nicaragua are
unprecedented.
"As President of the North, Central and Caribbean Volleyball
Confederation, which I am honored to preside, I thank the
President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, for his
contribution to the youth of the region” indicated Marte Hoffiz.
NORCECA collaborated with the organizing committee of the Games,
providing all the necessary volleyball equipment for beach and
indoor competition; including two volleyball Sport Court
surfaces, two complete systems for both disciplines,
nets , antennas, volleyballs , the VIS technology scoring system
, among other volleyball equipment been used for the development
of the volleyball and beach volleyball competitions.
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz pointed out “everything requested by the
Nicaraguan Olympic Committee and the National Federation was
provided, and I am completely satisfied with our contribution;
this event has been remarkably successful”.
The NORCECA Confederation is in full disposition to collaborate
with the city of Managua to make use of these magnificent
facilities. “In my opinion, President Daniel Ortega and the
Olympic Committee of Nicaragua have a futuristic vision; I am
thankful for their splendid efforts and I believe that Nicaragua
could be requesting in the future the organization of a Central
American and Caribbean Games, "said Cristóbal Marte.
Beach Volleyball was played from December 3 to 8 and Volleyball,
which is in progress, began on the 10th and ends on December
16th. |
