SportCourt floor donated to St. Lucia Volleyball Association
GROS ISLET, Saint Lucia, March 15, 2012 – The volleyball Players
on the island are in “hog heaven” after a SportCourt floor was
laid in the Gymnasium of the Gros Islet Secondary School.
The synthetic surface was supplied to the Saint Lucia Volleyball
Association by its parent body, North Central Caribbean and
America Confederation, better known as NORCECA, as part of its
efforts to develop its many affiliate National Associations
through the drive and passion of President Cristobal Marte
Hoffiz.
Marte Hoffiz has been able to negotiate the contribution of
synthetic floors, from Connor Sport Court, manufacturers of
classic synthetic surfaces for different sports.
The Government of St. Lucia through the then Ministry of Social
Transformation Youth and Sports, agreed to facilitate the entry
of the floor “duty free” into St. Lucia. The Ministry of
Education then agreed to the placement of the floor in the Gros
Islet School Gymnasium.
The Principal of the School Ms. Charles and the staff of the
school have also given their full support and were immediate
enthusiastic supporters of the idea.
The Association intends to use the gymnasium as its National
Training Facility as it usually has six national teams in
training almost year round with teams in both genders in the
senior, junior and youth levels.
This will permit training to take place consistently without
interruption from rain and on a synthetic surface lowering
injury and protecting joints.
The Volleyball Association is extremely grateful to NORCECA, the
Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education, Metro
Construction and the Principal and staff of the Gros Islet
Secondary School for making it possible for the court to be laid
and a training facility for the sport of volleyball to become a
reality. |
