Libero Seminar in Trinidad and Tobago
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, March 22, 2012 - International
volleyball coach, Sweden’s Tony Westman is currently in Trinidad
and Tobago on a seven-day visit to conduct a technical seminar
for libero at the University of T&T, Corinth Campus, San
Fernando.
The course which began on Monday and concludes on Sunday was
organised by the FIVB Regional Development Centre in Dominican
Republic and sponsored by North America, Central America and the
Caribbean Confederation (NORCECA) as part of its development
programme. It also has the approval of the FIVB Technical
Department.
Westman is an experienced professional coach for more than 15
years of top women’s and men’s clubs in Europe including the
last seven with Denmark women’s national team.
With regards to the seminar which features participants from a
number of Caribbean countries inclusive of Suriname, Jamaica,
Bahamas and host T&T, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of
Norceca said,” We continue expanding the influence of the FIVB
Development Center in Dominican Republic.”
“This is very important to increase the technical level of the
national teams at the different age groups.” Nelson Ramirez,
Director of the Development Centre in Dominican Republic
expressed his satisfaction for the support from both Norceca and
FIVB.
“This Libero seminar marks the start of our 2012 activities,”
Ramirez said. “We appreciate the collaboration we are having
from the T&T Volleyball Federation and its president Mushtaque
Mohammed.”
Daymien Stewart, Chief Operating Officer of the T&T Volleyball
Federation was elated with the hosting of the seminar by T&T and
noted that this country was being targeted as a venue for one of
Development sub-centres.
“By hosting these seminars the T&TVF is actually increasing its
chances of being selected along with a country from Central
America and homes for the two proposed sub-centres,” added
Stewart. |
