Official announcement “Gatorade Tournament” in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, March 28, 2012 – The Organizing Committee of the Guatemala Gatorade Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second stop of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit to be held from March 30 to April 1, made the official announcement of the event during a press conference on Wednesday night.

Enrique Santis, President of the Guatemalan National Volleyball Federation, pronounced the welcome words to all the participants and also expressed his gratitude to the NORCECA Confederation for once again trusting Guatemala as hosting country for a sixth consecutive year. He also expressed his satisfaction for the presence of Marta Centeno de Sajche, President of AFECAVOL and Vice President of NORCECA and to Gatorade as the official sponsor.

Centeno de Sajche, NORCECA delegate for the event said: “On behalf of the NORCECA Confederation and its President, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, thanks to his efforts as of Arnaldo Sanchez, this prestigious tour was created to develop beach volleyball in the region, and for it’s well known acceptance, the FIVB considered an Olympic qualification tournament for the area, giving our athletes the opportunity to fulfill the Olympic dream and to represent NORCECA; we hope to see you all at Campo Marte.”

Arnaldo Sánchez, President of NORCECA´s Beach Volleyball Commission and Director of the event, said: “I am pleased to be in Guatemala, the stop has its own mystic bringing the beach to the city and a lot of public comes to Campo Marte, especially now that Guatemala’s teams are qualified to the final stage of the Olympic Qualifier they need the support of their people.”

Also, Zuly Saravia, organizer of the event gave thanks to the sponsors, said: “The media are our guests of honor; I guarantee this will be a highly competitive event.”
