Pool Play begins at Guatemala Gatorade BVB

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, March 30, 2012 - United States, Guatemala 1, El Salvador and Dominican Republic, dominated the first day of actions of the Guatemala Gatorade Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second stop of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit.

Americans Jenny Kropp y Whitney Pavlik, defeated Elia Torres and Swan Mendoza of Nicaragua 2-0 (21-14, 21-14) and are in the first position in Pool A; Guatemala’s team 1 of Susana Alvarado and Lourdes Ramirez overwhelmed Khriysta Peter and Jamie Farley of Virgin Islands in two sets (21-15, 21-3) and then downed Anthazia Mason and Shari Matthews of Barbados 2-0 (21-15, 21-17) to claim first place of Pool B.

Dominican Republic with Diana Peguero and Nairobi Agramonte, made their job defeating Nikita Campbell and Ladonna Woodley of St. Vincent by 2-0 (21-9, 21-11) and over Anna Xavier and Catherine Francis of Dominica 2-0 (21-8, 21-11), claiming the top position in Pool C.

Other winners in Pool C were Diana Romero and Marcela Avalos of El Salvador against Xavier/Francis of Dominica by 2-0 (21-12, 21-14) and 2-0 (21-6, 21-14) over Campbell/Woodley of Saint Vincent.

Pool Play will be completed on Saturday.
