Marte Hoffiz completed a busy agenda in Rio Games
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 22, 2016 – NORCECA President and
FIVB First Executive Vice President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz had a
very active agenda over the three weeks he spent in Brazil as
technical director of the volleyball competition of Rio de
Janeiro Olympic Games and also in a variety of functions
inherent to his position in both institutions.
Marte Hoffiz accompanied FIVB President Dr. Ary Graca in several
activities at the Volleyball House, one of the hottest points in
Rio with a lot of attractions and the daily visit of current and
former legends of the game.
He took part, together with Mushtaque Mohammed, NORCECA Vice
President and President of CAZOVA, in the unveiling ceremony of
the book on Cuban three-gold medal Olympian Mireya Luis by
author Oscar Sanchez Serra, and joined Dr. Graca to welcome
International Olympic Committee President Dr. Thomas Bach during
his visit to Maracanazinho, the iconic volleyball venue in Rio
de Janeiro.
Besides overseeing the daily volleyball competition, he presided
over the two ceremonies of drawing of lots following the
conclusion of the preliminary rounds in both genders, as well as
the general technical meeting and the Control Committee meetings
throughout the event.
On the eve of the closing day NORCECA President offered a
luncheon to all International Technical Officers from the
confederation who participated in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The activity had the presence, among others, of Saul Castro
Verdugo, NORCECA First Executive Vice President, Mushtaque
Mohammed, Referee Delegate José Ramón Pérez Vento, referees
Denny Cespedes, Luis Macías and Patricia Rolf, National
Federation Director Arateide Caceres and Roosevelt Comarazamy,
