Marte Hoffiz expresses sympathy and hope for international
solidarity
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 21, 2017 – NORCECA
President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz have expressed his solidarity
to all people living in the Caribbean islands devastated by the
fury of major hurricanes Irma and Maria in recent weeks.
Marte Hoffiz said people from National Federations and
territories from Eastern Caribbean and Caribbean Zonal
Associations have suffered loss of life and destruction of their
homes and sport infrastructures.
“We have been closely following the terrible news about the
damages caused by these natural events” and added, “the first
preliminary report received from the ECVA President, Mr. Glenn
Quinlan, indicates that fatalities and destructions have been
reported mainly from Dominica, Dutch and French St Martin,
British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Antigua &
Barbuda, Guadeloupe, Saba, St Eustatius and St Kitts and Nevis,”
NORCECA president said.
“Our prayers are with all the families living in those countries
and hope for the solidarity of the international community to
come to the rescue of its people,” Marte Hoffiz said.
“In these moments of sorrow and calamities we sincerely extend
our solidarity and promise to do our best to knock all the doors
looking for relief and assistance,” he said. “I am sure that
with an all-out joint effort we will be able to overcome these
awful circumstances.” |
