Marte Hoffiz participates in Sports and Recreation Convention
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, December 17, 2018 – The president of
NORCECA Cristobal Marte Hoffiz participated as lecturer in the
Pan American Convention for Sport and Recreation held in San
Juan.
Marte Hoffiz, a former minister of sports and recreation of the
Dominican Republic and currently First Vice President of FIVB,
joined other sport personalities in the activity held at the San
Juan Convention Center located in the Condado section.
During his turn, Marte Hoffiz developed three important items:
-The Sport in the current world, its impact in the society, the
economy of the countries and the health.
- The development of the sport institutions in the next 10
years; and
- The presentation of a dream coming true: “The Queens of the
Caribbean”.
Commenting on the last item, Marty Hoffiz explained his
involvement in the start of a female volleyball program in the
Dominican Republic and how it has evolved into one of the major
powerhouses in world volleyball.
The Dominican Republic senior has been ranked among the top ten
volleyball teams and won the bronze medal of the FIVB Grand
Champions Cup in 2009 and finished fifth at the 2014 World
Championship.
Their U20 Team won the FIVB Junior World Championship in 2015
while their U23 Team won silver and bronze medals, respectively,
in the 2013 and 2015 editions.
Other lecturers at the convention included Adriana Sánchez
Pares, Secretary of the Recreation and Sports Department of
Puerto Rico, Mme Armita Holden, president/CEO of BAFA an
institution dedicated to the development of sports in the United
States and several countries of the world, and Yum Ramos Perales,
president of the Puerto Rican Basketball Federation |
