Marte Hoffiz received plaque from Dominican Organizers
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 26, 2019 – The
second edition of the Dominican Women’s Superior League gets
underway next Friday March 1 with a double header at Ricardo
Arias Pavilion in Santo Domingo.
The event is dedicated to Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of
the Female Volleyball Project of the Dominican Federation who
received a plaque of recognition from the members of the
Organizing Committee during a ceremony held on Tuesday.
The plaque was presented by members of the Marte Hoffiz family
led by his eldest son Abraham accompanied by his wife Renata and
their two daughters.
Horacio Mazara, president of the Organizing Committee, was
accompanied by Danilo Díaz Minister of Sports and Recreation and
Luis Mejía president of the Olympic Committee. Also present in
the ceremony were Ramon Garcia, president of the Dominican
Federation, Angel Rivas president of the National District
Association and Roosevelt Comarazamy, press officer of NORCECA.
The four-team event includes defending champions Las Caribeñas/New
Horizons, runner-ups Cristo Rey, Las Guerreras and Mirador.
The regular series will be played under a round-robin format
with each team playing nine matches. The teams ranked second and
third at the end of the series will meet in a best-of-three
semifinal series followed by a best-of-five final series against
the top ranked team of the preliminary phase.
Mazara informed about the free public transportation for the
fans attending the matches as well about the security in the
playing venue and the public areas surrounding the facility
while Nelson Ramirez, the technical director, informed about the
competition format. |
