Match schedule set for 2026 FIVB
Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship in Chile
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 6, 2026.- The match schedule for the 2026
FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship has been confirmed,
with the tournament set to run from 6 to 16 August across three
locations in Chile.
A total
of 24 teams will compete, beginning with a Preliminary Round played
in four pools of six teams. The top four teams from each pool will
advance to the knockout stage.
Matches
will be staged in Santiago at the National Stadium Park, in San
Felipe at the Liceo Mixto San Felipe, and in Los Andes at the Liceo
Mixto Los Andes.
Opening
day on 6 August will feature matches across all venues, bringing
together teams returning from the inaugural 2024 edition alongside
those competing in the tournament for the first time.

World Championship
In
Santiago, Egypt face USA and Argentina meet Poland before hosts
Chile take on Czechia in the evening session, marking their first
appearance at this level. In San Felipe, Mexico play Venezuela,
while defending champions China open their campaign against the
Philippines, who also make their first appearance. In Los Andes,
Puerto Rico meet Korea, followed by Chinese Taipei against Dominican
Republic.
Pool
play continues through 11 August, with each team playing five
matches to determine qualification for the knockout stage and
classification rounds.
The
Round of 16 will be played on 12 August across the three locations,
before the competition moves to Santiago for the quarterfinals on 14
August and the semifinals on 15 August.
The
tournament will conclude on 16 August at the National Stadium Park
in Santiago, with the bronze medal match scheduled at 16:00 and the
gold medal match at 19:00 local time.
The
expansion of the tournament from 16 teams in 2024 to 24 teams in
2026 brings a broader field, with 14 teams from the inaugural
edition in Lima qualifying again. These include defending champions
China, runners-up Japan and bronze medallists Italy, alongside
Chinese Taipei, Brazil, Peru, Türkiye, Mexico, Puerto Rico,
Argentina, Thailand, Croatia, Egypt and Dominican Republic.
Ten
teams will compete in the Girls’ U17 World Championship for the
first time, with hosts Chile joined by USA, Poland, Czechia, Korea,
the Philippines, Spain, Venezuela, Tunisia and Algeria. |
