Matt Anderson: Family Superman
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, February 2, 2021 - He's a two-time
Olympian and bronze medallist at Rio 2016 and he's been
nicknamed 'Mr MVP' for the dozens of individual awards he has
gathered over the years across the world - but USA's Matt
Anderson has had a life-changing experience that has shifted his
focus closer to home.
The 33-year-old superstar and his wife Jackie became proud
parents of young Jamie last January. And since then Matt has
been absolutely smitten.
"Being [Jamie's] dad has been such an incredible experience,
even when you don't sleep," he said.
Bringing up a baby during the pandemic, with actual volleyball
activity severely curtailed, has had Anderson closely focused on
his family, as they celebrated Jamie's first ever Thanksgiving,
in November.
Anderson grew up in upstate New York and has played for Korea's
Hyundai Skywalkers, Italy's Callip and Modena and Russia's Zenit
Kazan - all the while leading the USA national team to medals at
the Olympic Games, the FIVB Volleyball World Championship, the
FIVB World League and the FIVB World Cup.
Most recently he has been pivotal in leading USA to a spot at
the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through the world qualifiers.
So his huge worldwide fan base can now look forward to some
thrilling action from the proud father, back on court, once the
rescheduled Olympic Games take place in 2021. |
