Marte Hoffiz praises organizers of event in
Tijuana
TIJUANA, Mexico, May 4, 2012 – The NORCECA Women’s Olympic
Qualification Tournament has been a complete success in the city
of Tijuana, Mexico, according to Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
president of the continental confederation and first executive
vice president of FIVB.
Marte Hoffiz made his statements ahead of the last two days of
action and four teams still with chances of claiming the one
ticket available to the upcoming 2012 London Olympic Games.
“Once again, the organizers of Baja California have accomplished
a marvelous work covering all the bases,” Marte Hoffiz said.
“Saul Castro Verdugo and his team have the expertise after
organizing many international events.”
The president of NORCECA said that, after a short visit, FIVB
President Jizhong Wei left the country with a positive
impression about the level of organization of the event and the
facilities and programs developed by the Sport and Physical
Culture of Baja California at the High Performance Center.
“The event has been running smoothly in all the areas and the
players, officials and members of the control committee are more
than satisfied about it,” he added. “President Wei was thrilled
after sharing time with the athletes training at the High
Performance Center.
In Friday’s action Cuba and Puerto Rico will face each other at
2:00 p.m. PDT in the first semifinal while Dominican Republic
are to play Canada at 5:00. |
