Honduras takes the Gold in World Qualifier

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, May 20, 2012.- National team of Honduras took the Gold Medal at the NORCECA First Round 2014 Men’s World Championship Qualification Tournament Group G, a three-day competition at Gymnasium Adolfo Pineda in El Salvador.

Honduras finished in first place undefeated, Panama in second and El Salvador in third; the three teams go forth to the NORCECA Second Round of the Men’s World Championship Qualifier to take place in 2013.

Luis Salgado of Honduras was elected the MVP of the tournament and he also took the individual titles for Best Scorer and Best Spiker. Honduras also had the Best Blocker, Wilfredo Lopez, and the Best Setter, Captain Luis Membreño.

From El Salvador, Franklin Flores was the Best Server, Luis Morales the Best Digger and Rodrigo Chavez the Best Receiver. Miguel Medina of Panama was the Best Libero.
