CATAÑO, Puerto Rico, April 15, 2015 – Mayaguez forced an extra
decisive match in the Series B quarterfinals of the Puerto Rican
Women’s Volleyball Superior League by overcoming Cataño in four
tense sets (25-27, 25-23, 31-29, 25-22).
Both teams finished the series tied at 1-3 win-loss record
behind the undefeated Ponce and will meet on Thursday in Cabo
Rojo in a do-or-die contest for the spot in the semifinals.
Sarai Álvarez led Mayaguez with 21 points, followed by Kim
Willoughby who contributed 17 points in the victory.
In the other match in Series A, Juncos kept their unbeaten
record at 3-0 following a crushing straight-set (25-13, 25-11,
25-7) over the eliminated Carolina (0-4).
Juncos can secure the top spot of the Series with just winning a
set against the visiting Caguas that need a 3-0 victory with a
difference of more than 15 points to finish in first place. |
