Mazatlan to continue as regular stop of NORCECA Circuit
MAZATLAN, Mexico, September 14, 2013- Mazatlan will continue as
one of the stops of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit with
the support and endorsement of the Sinaloa State Government.
The western Mexican City is hosting its first event of the
annual circuit one year after welcoming the final round of the
Continental Cup towards the London Olympic Games last year.
Juan Ernesto Millan Pietsch, Secretary for Human and Social
Development, informed the good news during his speech in the
opening ceremony of the sixth stage of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit.
Millan Pietsch, who represented the State Governor Mario Lopez
Valdez, expressed the support of the state government to
maintain Mazatlan as one of the regular stops of the continental
tour.
“I have been authorized by our governor to inform about his
decision to support the organization of this event as part of
the efforts to show the world the real face of the state of
Sinaloa,” he said.
He also made reference to the playing facilities at the Mazatlan
Municipal Unity of Sports adjacent to the University of Sinaloa,
and the need to offer better comfort to the spectators.
“Next year the fans will have more protection from the weather
conditions with the stands covered by a roof since the sport of
beach volleyball is basically played under the sun,” he said.
Millan Pietsch then welcomed all the participants and declared
the competition officially opened.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Jesus Perales,
President of the Mexican Volleyball Federation, Francisco
Córdova, Secretary of Tourism, Mayra Huerta of NORCECA
Confederation and Laura Amaral, president of Larx Promotions. |
