Men competition at the U23 Tour in Punta Cana kicks off fiercely
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, October 7, 2024. - Teams from Nicaragua,
the Dominican Republic, Cuba, El Salvador, the United States, Costa
Rica, and Canada won both of their matches on the first day of
competition at the NORCECA U23 Beach Volleyball Continental Tour in
Punta Cana.
Josué Meneses/Jesy Umaña from Nicaragua and the Dominican duo R. De
Jesús/M. De Jesús defeated the team from Saint Vincent, Shadron
Delpesche/John Jaimion, and Canada's number 2 team, Cole Linskill/Henry
Heider.
Meneses/Umaña defeated Delpesche/Jaimion 2-0 (21-12, 21-8) and
Linskill/Heider 2-1 (21-14, 22-24, 18-16). R. De Jesús/M. De Jesús
overcame Delpesche/Jaimion 2-0 (21-12, 21-8) and Linskill/Heider 2-1
(21-18, 16-21, 15-10).
Cubans Damián Gómez/Eblis Veranes won their matches against George
Wilmore/Rolvin Maldonado (DOM2) 2-0 (21-19, 21-14) and Alexander
Southern/Braedon Cooke from Bermuda 2-0 (21-8, 21-5).
Other pairs that remained undefeated on the first day included the
Guardado twins from El Salvador, who beat José Izaguirre/Mario Ventura
from Guatemala 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) and Kymani Greenidge/Cole Sommer from
the U.S. Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-3, 21-7). Ayden Keeter/Carson Barnes
from the United States defeated Greenidge/Sommer 2-0 (21-6, 21-3) and
the Guatemalan duo Izaguirre/Ventura 2-0 (21-14, 21-12).
Julián Araya/Stanley Grant from Costa Rica triumphed over Stephen
Watson/Alexander Finnikin from the Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-10, 21-9) and
Luiyi Morales/Emmanuel Montenegro from Bonaire 2-0 (21-7, 21-10). The
Canadian team of Dorsey Connor/Aiden Hilkowitz defeated
Morales/Montenegro 2-0 (21-9, 21-12) and Watson/Finnikin 2-0 (21-7,
21-10).
