Men’s Central American Cup to be hosted by Guatemala 

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 27 2021. - The Dome of Guatemala City will host the twenty first Men’s Volleyball Central American Cup of AFECAVOL from October 30 to November 5th.  

 

Guatemala will seek to win their third championship in a row, having won the past two editions in 2018 and 2017 held in El Salvador and Nicaragua respectively. Costa Rica, silver medal and El Salvador, bronze medal, shared the honors with Guatemala in 2018. 

 

Since the creation of the Central American Cup in 1974, Panamá continues to be the country with the most titles with eight; followed by Costa Rica with six, the current champions Guatemala with four and Honduras has won in two occasions.

 

The seven countries members of AFECAVOL arrive in Guatemala on Friday October 29, preliminary inquiries will be held on the same day and AFECAVOL President Félix Sabio González will attend a press conference as an opening ceremony of the event.

 

Due to Covid-19 restrictions in Guatemala, fans will not be able to attend the tournament.
