PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, July 3, 2021 –
Men’s teams of Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico and
Puerto Rico advanced to the “Final Four” phase
of the NORCECA U23 Beach Volleyball Qualifier to
the inaugural Junior Pan American Games.
These four duos booked tickets to the
multi-sport event to be held in Cali, Colombia
from November 25 to December 5.
Cubans Noslen Diaz and Luis Reyes crushed
Dayntee Stewart and Joshua Persaud of Trinidad
and Tobago 2-0 (21-7, 21-9) in just 29 minutes
and will meet in semifinals with the Nicaragua’s
duo of Carlos Solis and Denis López who
prevailed 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 15-9) in a
48-minutes battle against Oscar Martínez and
Hayerling de Jesus of Dominican Republic-A.
Mexicans Raymond Stephens and Miguel Sarabia won
their quarterfinals contest against Guatemala’s
Edgar Maldonado and Andre Nuyens 2-0 (21-14,
21-17) and will play against Puerto Ricans
William Rivera and Randall Santiago who needed
30 minutes to defeat Costa Rica’s Criforth
Fallas and Daniel Dyner 2-0 (21-11, 21-16).
In the early matches of Sunday, Costa Rica will
meet Guatemala and Dominican Republic-A will
face Trinidad and Tobago for the fifth and sixth
places that still offer two remaining tickets to
Cali.
