Mets are champions for the third time in a row
ADJUNTAS, Puerto Rico, August 10, 2018 - The Guaynabo Mets
revalidated as national champions of the Men's Superior
Volleyball League by defeating the Adjuntas Giants in straight
sets in the sixth game of the final series.
The score of the match was 25-23, 25-21, 25-20.
Maurice Torres registered 17 points for the Mets, Sequiel
Sanchez contributed 15 and Cuban Inovel Romero had eight. For
the Giants, Ezequiel Cruz and Pedrito Sierra scored 10 points
each.
"It was not easy, but with this working group it was achieved.
We have a great group and we have achieved this championship,
very happy with this result, "said Maurice Torres after the
game.

Meanwhile, the manager of the Mets, Ramón 'Zurdo' Rosado
congratulated the front offie of the Giants and announced that
he expects both teams to return next year.
The Mets add their third straight title (2015, 2016 and 2018).
The 2017 tournament was suspended after the passage of Hurricane
Maria by the Island. The last team to win at least three
championships in a row were the Changos de Naranjito who did it
between 2003 and 2007. |
