Mexican Isiordia named MVP of U-20 Cup
HAVANA, Cuba, March 23, 2013 – Mexican Alejandra Isiordia,
captain of the champion team at the U-20 Women’s Pan American
Cup, was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the competition
held at Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in Havana.
Isiordia, the tallest player of her team, was a decisive factor
in the Mexican victory with a consistent performance throughout
the tournament, and besides she resulted in the best scorer of
the competition with a total of 120 points.
Cuban Meliza Vargas, only 13 years old, was the best spiker,
while Colombian Melissa Rangel and Puerto Rican Daly Santana,
were the best in the departments of blocking and services,
respectively.
Winifer Fernández, of Dominican Republic, finished as best
digger and best libero, while Colombian Camila Gomez was the
best receiver. Peruvian Shiamara Almeida was the best setter.
The final positions of the tournament were the following:
