Mexican coach Azair expects a
great projection for his players at WWCH
MEXICO CITY, Mexico, September 2 2014 - Mexican
Women’s head coach, Jorge Azair expects that the World
Championship in Italy will be a great learning experience and
also a big stage for projection of his players.
“If they show a good performance, they can be
considered for American Universities or European Teams,” Azair
remarked during training camp held at the Mexican Olympic
Committee facilities.
Mexico will compete as part of Pool C in Italy,
against teams like Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Russia, The United
States and Thailand. All of those teams have a world
championship record and bigger experience as well as height and
age average.
However, Azair has plenty of confidence in his
squad teamwork and fight spirit as qualities. “They have to be
creative at the World stage,” the coach said. “We have been
playing and working hard since March, and also participated at
the Pan American Cup as well as the World Championship last
Qualifying Round, the Grand Prix and we are in a pre-competitive
phase.”
To be in great physical shape and improving
tactical aspects are part of the immediate goals during this
training camp before departing to Slovenia, where they will have
another camp prior to the World Championship.
Mexico has and age average of 23 years and a 1.86
meters height average.
“We know some of our rivals, like Kazakhstan,
because we played against them at the World Grand Prix, and
Thailand is also a very strong team, but phyisically similar to
us,” He added.
“I thing these two matches can be the key ones to
win for us. We are in a very tough and complicated pool.” |
