Mexicans Lopez and Santoyo to the semifinals

MANZANILLO, Mexico, May 31, 2014 - Mexicans Frida Lopez and Itzel Santoyo of clinched a berth in the semifinals at the fourth stop of the VIII Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit at San Pedrito Beach.

Lopez and Santoyo of Mexico 4 defeated Costa Ricans Katherine Quezada and Eugenia Ramirez in the quarterfinals (21-17, 21-18).

Also Americans Kendra Vanzweiten and Allison Daley of USA clinched a berth in the semifinals after beating Stephanie Burnside y Yesenia Castro of Mexico 3 (21-9, 21-17). 

Meanwhile USA 2 couple of Heather Hughes and Christal Engle defeated Vanessa Virgen and Polet Mexico 2 (21-18, 21-16) to get another ticket to the semifinals in the last match of Day 2.

Vanzweiten and Dalley had faced previously Santoyo and Lopez. in a match they won 3-2 against the young Mexicans, to begin actions on day 2. The scores were 21-11, 19-21 and 15-7.

Melissa Humana and Taylor Pischke, of Canada 2, played with a lot of resilience against Hughes and Engle of USA 2, in an undefeated teams battle in Pool D. However Engle and Hughes won 3-2 (21-18, 21-23, 15-10).

Humana and Pischke had another chance to grant the pass to the semis. They faced in quarterfinals their fellow patriots Brandi Wilkerson and Claudia Seguin of Canada 1 and beat them 22-20, 24-22.
