Mexicans Revuelta and Orellana crowned in La Paz

LA PAZ, Mexico, April 22, 2018 - The Mexican duo of Martha Revuelta and Zaira Orellana won the Women's tournament of the Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit by defeating Americans Kimberly Smith and Mackenzie Ponnet 2-1 (18-21, 23- 21, 15-12).

The bronze went to Kelly Reeves and Brittany Howard of USA-B, who beat Stephanie Burnside and Maria Jose Quintero of Mexico-A by scores of 21-19 and 21-11. 

In the semifinal Revuelta and Orellana took the match against Burnside and Quintero in three sets by 21-15, 20-22 and 15-10.

Meanwhile, Smith and Ponnet, defeated their compatriots Reeves and Howard in the other match by 21-18 and 21-9.

"This is just beginning, it is the first gold we get in this circuit as a couple and we are really happy," said Orellana.

"Finally for me returning to the courts this year is something wonderful, and we are very grateful to our coach Salvador and our families. This is the result of hard work," said Revuelta.

Final positions: 1. Zaira Orellana / Martha Revuelta (MEX-C); 2. Kimberly Smith / Mackenzie Ponnet (USA-A); 3. Kelly Reeves /Brittany Howard (USA-B); 4. Stephanie Burnside / Maria Jose Quintero (MEX-A).
