Mexico and Costa Rica first NORCECA teams in action at Boys’ U19 World
Championship
SAN JUAN, Argentina, August 2, 2023.- Mexico and Costa Rica the first
NORCECA teams to hit the court at the 18th edition of the FIVB
Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship that got underway in San Juan on
Wednesday.
In Pool D, Brazil delivered a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-23) win over Mexico
despite a 21-point match high from Mexican outside hitter Ines Lares.
Brazil led 7-2 in blocks and 4-2 in points from serves. Mexico held a
slim 36 to 35 advantage in attacks.
Host Argentina won 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-13) sweep in their opening
match against Costa Rica in Pool A. Stanley Grant was the best performer
for Costa Rica with 11 attacking points.
In pool C A 3-0 (25-0, 25-0, 25-0) forfeit win was awarded to Puerto

United States will make their first appearance on Thursday against
NORCECA opponent Costa Rica, while Puerto Rico and Mexico will face Iran
