Mexico beats Chile for 11th Place

LIMA, Peru, June 23, 2017 – Mexico swept past Chile 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) in the match for 11th position at the XVI Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup by Movistar at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of Lima on Friday.

It was the first victory for Mexico in the tournament after going winless in Pool A at Cañete. Chile left the tournament with empty hands after going 0-6 overall.

In a consolation match between two defensive teams Mexico dominated in attacks (40-25), blocks (9-3) and aces (6-5).

Kathya Garcia and Andrea Rangel each had 12 points for Mexico, while Patricia Valle tallied 9 in the victory.

Catalina Melo had match-high 15 points for Chile and Beatriz Novoa added 9.
