CORDOBA, Mexico, October 8, 2015 - Mexico won against Honduras
3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-22) to clinch a berth in the semifinals
and recovered from the defeat against Cuba on Wednesday.

with 3 aces by Pedro Rangel and out-blocked the Central
Americans 8-6 with a solid performance by Alejandro Moreno, who
registered four blocking points.
“We knew that this was going to be a very important match for us,
because it was the classification for the Pre-Olympic tournament.
We took it seriously. We began with some kind of anxiety, but we
were improving step by step. I’m satisfied for the result, but
not for the way we played. We got the result, but I think we can
play much better,” Jorge Barajas, captain of Mexico stated.
"For us, this was just our third international practice match in
a year of preparation. We knew that there would be difficulties
for us gainst their serve after the work of his setter (Pedro
Rangel). I think we were able to work slowly, point by point,
but could close the sets, "said captain of Honduras, Luis
Salgado.
“I think this has been a much better match than the previous
ones and like my captain said, these have been our first
international preparation game and we have reached our goal
about improving our performance. The psychological aspect it is
very important in this case and we have to work more on that,”
Marcos Tejeda, coach of Honduras said.
“Congratulations to Honduras, I had not seen a team from that
country in volleyball in many years. Congratulations for
bringing young players. We had a very complicated first set. It
was difficult to maintain the rhythm for them and the difference
came out for us. However we must prepare and go on as we have a
very difficult match against Canada tomorrow,” remarked Roberto
Vilches, coach of Mexico |
