Mexico is the second semifinalist at NORCECA U18

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 4, 2016 - Mexico became the second semifinalist of the U-18 Continental Championship after beating Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 26-24) in the last match of the preliminary round.

Mexico joins the USA as the first two semifinalists of the tournament. Puerto Rico will face Guatemala in the quarter finals which will be played on Monday.

"I am fvry pleased with the team's work, we were well motivated, but not expected to achieve a 3-0. Now we have to prepare for the semifinal", said Mexican coach Ricardo Naranjo.

Meanwhile, Ariel Ortiz of Puerto Rico said: "Mexico played a great game I don’t think they committed more than 10 errors. My team was very erratic and it is difficult to play at this level with so many mistakes”.

Mexico’s Uxea Giiereca was the best scorer with 22 points, followed by Daniela Siller with 15. Paulina Perez had 14 for Puerto Rico.
