Mexico opens with victory over Cuba in FIVB

AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico, July 12, 2019 – Mexico relied on it
services to neutralized Cuba in their 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 25-17,
25-23) victory on opening day of the FIVB Women’s U20 World
Championship in Aguascalientes.
Uxue Guereca and Guadalupe Parra had 20 points as the offensive
star of the home side which scored 13 aces for the match.
Head coach Massimo Bellano said his team can play much better
after their beating United States in four sets 3-1 (28-26,
18-25, 30-28, 25-22).
Nkemdilim Enweonwu led Italy with 23 points. Skylar Fields was
the best of USA with 16 points.
Brazil dominated every skill as the South American team swept
the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-20) in pool D. The
Brazilians overwhelmed in attacks (31-13), blocks (9-4) and
serves (7-0).
Laura Kudiess led Brazil with 13 points while Natalia Martínez
had 10 for the Dominican team. |
