LIMA, Peru, August 16, 2018 - Mexico secured its place in the quarterfinals as second placed in Pool B, after beating Costa Rica 3-0 at the Manuel Bonilla Coliseum in Miraflores, venue of the IV U23 Pan American Cup.

The score in favor of Luis Alberto León's team was (25-17, 25-13, 25-13) in 1 hour 12 minutes, with spiker Melanie Parra, who is only 15 years old, standing out as the top scorer with 11 points, followed by Daniela Sillier with 10. For Costa Rica, Isayana Soto exceeded the two digits getting 11 units.

Mexico finished with advantages in attacks (44-30), blocking (4-2) and dominated widely in the fundament of services (7-1). The winning team reduced their unforced errors to 10, while their opponent recorded 20.
