Mexico won 3-0 against Costa Rica
LIMA, Peru, August 16, 2018 - Mexico secured its place in the
quarterfinals as second placed in Pool B, after beating Costa
Rica 3-0 at the Manuel Bonilla Coliseum in Miraflores, venue of
the IV U23 Pan American Cup.
The score in favor of Luis Alberto León's team was (25-17,
25-13, 25-13) in 1 hour 12 minutes, with spiker Melanie Parra,
who is only 15 years old, standing out as the top scorer with 11
points, followed by Daniela Sillier with 10. For Costa Rica,
Isayana Soto exceeded the two digits getting 11 units.
Mexico finished with advantages in attacks (44-30), blocking
(4-2) and dominated widely in the fundament of services (7-1).
The winning team reduced their unforced errors to 10, while
their opponent recorded 20.
The top scorer in Mexico, Melanie Parra: "The key for achieving
success was our service, we know that no team is easy but with
great concentration we managed to win in three sets. Our level
of volleyball as a group has been growing and I am confident
that this competition will bring us closer to our goal of
qualifying to the World Cup. "
The top scorer of Costa Rica, Isayana Soto: "For us it is very
important because it is a higher category than us, today things
did not go as we wanted but I feel we are progressing very well.
Although our country is not one of the strongest in volleyball,
I think that little by little we are growing and in our next
match we will come out with everything." |
