Micha Hancock named MVP of XVI Pan Am Cup

 

CAÑETE, Peru, June 25, 2017 –Micha Hancock, whose serving and setting qualities helped her USA team to a fifth crown at the XVI Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup by Movistar, was named Most Valuable Player of the competition.

 

For second year in a row Hancock proved to be one of the best servers in the business as she landed a leading 31 aces for the tournament, still short of her record of50 last year in Santo Domingo.

 

Hancock also conducted a fast tempo for USA and she leap-frogged Dominican Republic’s Niverka Marte for top place among the setters.

 

USA’s teammate Elizabeth McMahon, elected as best opposite, was the other member of the champions included in the All-Star.

 

Cuba’s Heidy Casanova, who established a new record for most points in a single match with 41 against Canada in the contest for fifth place, was the best scorer with a total of 163 points.

 

Regla Gracia was the other Cuban player awarded on Sunday as the lefty was named second best wing spiker behind Dominican Republic’s Bethania de la Cruz.

 

Trinidad & Tobago’s Sinead Jack and Argentina’s Natalia Aispurua were selected as firs and second middle blockers, respectively.

 

Dominican Brenda Castillo was the best digger and Mirian Patiño of Peru was the best receiver and best libero.
