Mini Class kicks off in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, November 10, 2018 – The Mini class, the
most popular in the history of the School National Volleyball
Championship in Puerto Rico, will make its debut on Saturday
with a total of 84 matches.
“It is the great day of the Minis, everyone is awaiting for this
moment, these young athletes get the support of the families and
the school community, Then we will have the youth and junior
category to close the Saturday,” said Arnaldo Sánchez, director
of the championship.
The action in the Mini starts at 8:00 a.m. while the Youth and
Junior categories are scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. and
5:30 p.m.
A total of 350 teams from 105 schools, public and private, and
35 municipalities are competing with 4,000 students and 200
coaches. During the days of competition a total of 310 matches
will be played.
The active teams are distributed in the following divisions:
Senior (65 females and 40 males), Junior (59 females and 25
males), Youth (60 females and 24 males) and Mini (46 females and
31 males).
Some results:
Notre Dame of Caguas continues undefeated in the Junior Female
class after a 25-14, 25-11 victory over St. Patrick of Guayama.
In other matches of the female class, La Salle edged Inmaculada
in three frames (22-25, 25-19, 15-9), Emadrian defeated Caguas
Private and in another three-set contest Colegio Ponceño edged
CIEM 26-28, 25-18, 15-13.
The second seeded in the Junior Male class, Bayamon Military
Academy added another victory after a 25-8, 25-11 win over Saint
Patrick of Guayama. |
