Mohammed praises efforts of Aruban organizers
ORANJESTAD, Aruba, May 17, 2013 – The Centro Deportivo Betico
Croes in Oranjestad, with a seating capacity of 1,500
spectators, will be the competition venue for the NORCECA Second
Round Group L of the FIVB Men’s World Championship on May 18-19.
The members of the control committee for the competition made an
inspection visit on Friday morning and declared the venue to
their full satisfaction to stage the four-team event which
grants one ticket to the third and final round next year.
“During the inspection we visited the different areas and the
gym will provide the requirements according to FIVB standards
for the competition,” said Mushtaque Mohammed, president of the
control committee.
Filomena Daniel-Curiel, president of Aruba Volleyball
Association, is also the chairman of the organizing committee
and Mohammed commented she has put together a hard-working staff
to ensure the success of the event.
“The organizing committee has made a big effort to facilitate a
good competitive environment and we are completely satisfied,”
he added.
Teams from Antigua & Barbuda, Costa Rica, Curacao and hosts
Aruba are set to battle under a round-robin with each team
playing twice on Saturday and the one more match on Sunday
morning. The top two teams then will compete for the pass to the
third and final stage.
The squad that finishes in second place will remain in
contention for the next round as the four best ranked teams
according to NORCECA rankings as of January 2014 also will
receive tickets to compete in the final phase. |
