Montelimar Open is ready to kick off in Nicaragua
MONTELIMAR, Nicaragua, October 26, 2016.- The Barcelo Montelimar
Beach Hotel is ready to gather the best Centralamercian teams as
hosts of the Montelimar Open 2016 that kicks off on Friday
October 28.
The Montelimar Open has become a Central American and national
tradition, in which teams from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras
and Costa Rica along with local representatives have registered
on the occasion of its eleventh edition,
Bertha Cuadra, President of Nicaragua’s Volleyball National
Federation (FNVB) presented the event during a press conference
“this is the Open’s eleventh edition, becoming an important
zonal event. Much of our success is to Costa Rica’s players who
have supported the tournament and have made it their own”.
“The event was first held in 2005 as an important preparation
for our national teams, our players who represent Nicaragua in
the NORCECA Tour and Central American events needed an
opportunity to prepare well and play. The event has grown thanks
to the support from NORCECA and we hope that next year we can
have North American and Caribbean team’s playing in Montelimar”
indicated Cuadra.

Embotelladora Nacional with their Brand Gatorade, who have
supported us since the first edition, their provisions have
covered prizes and other important costs, along with Barcelo
Montelimar Hotel’s invaluable contribution” said Franklin
Flores, Commercial Manager of the host Hotel.
Sergio Silva, FNVB Beach Volleyball Director, explained that at
the moment there are 28 male teams and 16 women teams
registered, almost close to the 50 that the Open has hosted in
other editions.
From Nicaragua, Gerald Umaña and Henry Hernandez, champions
during the Central American 2010 Games in Costa Rica, along with
U-21 Central American champions Denis Lopez and Ruben Mora have
confirmed their participation. As well as women teams who are
preparing for the U-21 and Senior Central American Beach
Volleyball tournaments taking place in December.
The general technical meeting to decide the group distribution
is set for Friday 28. The preliminary and quarter final rounds
will be held on Saturday, while the semifinals and finals will
take place on Sunday. |
