SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 26, 2015 – FIVB/NORCECA
Instructor Justo Morales of Cuba spent the past month in several
cities of Guatemala offering clinics and training national
coaches in coordination with the Guatemalan Volleyball
Federation from February 26 to March 24.
Morales, who is in charge of the seven countries that make up
the Central American zone, is one of seven itinerant instructors
currently serving under the NORCECA Development Plan.
Besides working with coaches and school teachers, his duties
include the assistance of national federations with the
elaboration of an appropriate development plan for their
national teams in the different levels as well as promoting the
practice of volleyball among students at the lower school
grades.
During his stay in Guatemala, Morales had the opportunity to
work with the volleyball associations of Huehuetenango, San
Marcos, Quetzaltenango, Sololá and Guatemala City.
The theoretical and practical clinics included, among others,
the following topics: A) Importance of Physical Education and
Sports in Schools, B) Planning of training sessions, C) Scouting
of players, D) Refreshment courses, E) Importance of strength
for the athletes, and F) Volleyball Fundamentals.
Morales also participated with the national coaches in the
training sessions of the national teams both of volleyball and
beach volleyball.
He praised the support received from the local authorities as
well as the level of organization of the Guatemalan Volleyball
Federation, presided over by Enrique Santis, and also the
consistent participation of its national teams in the regional
and international competitions.
